SYNOPSIS:

Music and culture flourish in the Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, one of the most violent metropolitan regions in the world. Above the negative expectations, ordinary artists open paths and transform lives in face of a challenging reality.

Directed by the Brazilian documentarist Juliana Spinola and the Italian documentarist Christian Tragni, the film tells the story of these musicians and the first collective of artists, the Baixada Nunca Se Rende, from Rio de Janeiro peripheries in partnership with UNDP World Centre for Sustainable Development.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY:

Juliana Spinola is a photographer and filmmaker from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her photos were published in Vice, The Guardian, NY Post and others. She participated in short films also doing edition and production and has just made her first long documentary film.
Christian Tragni is an Italian photographer, filmmaker and writer. His work has appeared in publications such as Time, Financial Times, National Geographic, Vice, New-Yorker, among others. He has directed three short movies with great festival participations and has just made his first long documentary film.
